NUI Galway will require students on the following programmes to be Garda Vetted before they fully complete their registration as a student of the University. Garda Vetting is a procedure that NUI Galway uses to certify whether or not a student who has been offered and accepted a programme has ever been convicted of a crime. NUI Galway offers a number of programmes that require students to undertake placements with external agencies, which will bring them into contact with the public and in which they will assume positions of trust.

Students who have satisfactorily completed Garda Vetting and any other requirements of the registration process will be deemed to be fully registered as students of NUI Galway.
