Can you softmod black wii

Just to double-check, whenever I read guides on how to soft-mod a Wii, why do I keep reading stuff about how even though this guide is for firmware 4. One tutorial I was going to try out up until I discovered that some of the links didn't work says right away that this guide is not recommended if you have a virgin wii. Also, even if the guide works, it will still do me no good if I can't get a hold of the files needed to do the job.

As a result does anyone know of a guide that still has all of it's links working properly so that the guide in question can be completed?

I just checked the links myself on the guide you liked which is the proper guide you should use for 4. Which link is not working for you? Well this is odd; I remember checking through this before, and I remember at least one of the download links early in the guide was dead.
